The Brent Schoening Memorial Scholarship Fund
The Brent Schoening Memorial Scholarship Fund was formed in 2009 in honor and memory of Brent Schoening. The Brent Schoening Memorial Scholarship Fund, Inc. (“Fund”) is a Georgia Non-Profit corporation that will award one scholarship (in an amount to be determined) per academic year to a Columbus High School Senior Student Athlete who most epitomizes what Brent Schoening stood for; integrity, hard work, trust worthiness and honor, both on and off the field.
Brent attended Columbus High and was a member of the class of 1996. While at CHS, he was an integral part of 3 State Championship teams while garnering numerous other awards and honors. In 2009, Brent lost his courageous fight with AML Leukemia.
While Brent was a decorated athlete he will most be remembered for the person, friend & teammate he was. Brent’s integrity and honor were beyond reproach and was a friend to all who knew him.
The Brent Schoening Memorial Scholarship will be awarded each spring to a Columbus High School Senior Student Athlete. All applications will be reviewed by the selection committee and applicants may be asked for an interview if it is deemed necessary by the selection committee. The scholarship will be presented by a member of the board or selection committee at a time and date to be determined once the selection process has been concluded. Disbursement of the fund will be made jointly to the student athlete and the college or university of their choosing.
